Hi,
I'm Jacob, but you can call me Butl3r. I'm an Electronic DJ that specializes in Future Funk/Glitch Hop/ music that can resonate with your soul. I am originally from the Chicago-land area; however, my current home is Denver, Colorado. Currently I am having a blast playing around different spots in the Denver area.
I first started getting into the electronic music scene back in 2016 after I had seen GRiZ play Navy Pier. I was Shocked by the performance that I had just witnessed. I looked over to my friends and said, "I want to do that!" After that show, I took some DJ classes from a DJ/Producer by the name of LOBO, then began my DJ career and going on a deep dive of music. The more music I found, the more I wanted to find a way to get booked for events. After maybe 20ish shows, I wondered how I could set myself apart from other DJs in the scene. What could I do that others couldn't achieve. After moving to Denver in 2017/2018, I found my niche. The thing that sets me apart from other DJs. I had a knack for mixing on the fly and doing mashups.
I first discovered my mixing ability when I played a tribute night back in July of 2019. it was 3 and a half hours straight of playing music from 2 different artists. I had no time to prep the set due to work, and trying to acquire all of the music from artists. (One artist I never really even listened to either.) During that set, I realized that I had this ability to mix on the fly. After that night, I started to identify more of my identity. It started to make more and more sense as my career evolved. I'm Butl3r, I can cater to any audience and play almost any genre of music and make my own style that works for anyone that's on the dance floor. Authentically playing to the crowd, reading a room, and bringing people together is what Butl3r is all about.
Over the length of my career, I've had the pleasure to play many different venues, ranging from Mile High Spirits in Denver, to The Vic in Chicago, and opening up for some amazing artists. At The Vic, I won a contest and opened up for Clozee on her Neon Jungle Tour, which may be the biggest highlight of my career to date. I have had the pleasure to open up for Mikey Thunder, Project Aspect, Goodsex, The Sponges, Manic Focus via a Live Stream I organized called Quaran-Stream, 5am Trio, Melody Lines, High-step Society, and more.
Currently, I am taking my time and not trying to let too many shows take over my life. You only get one life, and don't let life be just one big party. take care of yourself and the ones around you, ya know? The values for this project called Butl3r can be boiled down to 3 things. Firstly, take care of each other and look out for one another. Help people out if you can. Secondly, be authentically yourself. No one can do you quite like you can, so do the best that you can, you may not get another chance. Thirdly and lastly, respect. Not only respect others but respect yourself and don't overdo things. You can't get anywhere if you're pouring from an empty cup. Make sure to check out my soundcloud, share my mixes/mashups around, follow my pages for any and all updates, and I'll see you soon!
